In my opinion Mastery is Robert Greene’s seminal work. I am going to do a series of write ups based of this #1 New York Times best seller. In his book Greene researches the lives of Masters, over many differing fields of study, of the past and current. Men like Henry Ford, Leonardo da Vinci, Carl Jung, Mozart, John Coltrane. Greene then asked: What do all these men have in common that allowed them to become the master of their respective field? He records his findings in this book. The template that Greene describes is important for any person on their path to Mastery. The book is divided into 6 pieces:
I. Discover Your Calling: The Life’s Task
II. Submit to Reality: The Ideal Apprenticeship
III. Absorb the Master’s Power: The Mentor Dynamic
IV. See People as They Are: Social Intelligence
V. Awaken the Dimensional Mind: The Creative-Active
VI. Fuse the Intuitive with the Rational: Mastery
While 1, 5 and 6 will be included my series will focus on parts 2-4. These parts the most important for those who are just beginning their journey. I hope that as I begin my own journey I can help others as well.
